Mindemoya Youth Softball Tournament!
The weekend weather made it a little challenging for organizers and the umbrella-less at the sixth annual Mindemoya Youth Softball Tournament however the committee managed to get all 87 games in! Despite a two-hour rain, thunderstorm delay on Saturday the teams really hustled, even getting the final game, ending 15 minutes ahead of their original schedule, end-time!
One of the nice stories from the tourney took place in the King Division (15鈥16-year-olds). The returning, 鈥淎鈥 Champions, the Dockhounds defeated the Benchwarmers in extra innings.
The team features a couple of generations of the Division namesake, Doug King! Grandson, Chris King coached the team, including Doug鈥檚 Great-Grandson, Max King. The remaining roster was Ethan Ense, Jaxson Chatwell, Lowell Huskinson, Reid Martin, Logan O鈥橲haughnessey, Brynn Best, Charmaine Webkamigad, Brinley Watson, Trinity Cheechoo, Kayla Lockeyer and Kaci Lariviere. The coaching staff also included Christa King, Troy Chatwell and Krystal Harper.
The busy organizing committee was not able to track down the full results and rosters by press time so we will have to wait until next week.
Many thanks to the founders of the Tournament the grounds-crew and special thanks to these priceless, pros over the weekend, Umpires, Greg Lockeyer, Kevin Corbiere, Rodney Cox and Bruce Wiggins! In all, some 400+ kids had a great weekend thanks to everyone involved!
Pickleball Pros!
The surge of Pickleball popularity on Manitoulin is thanks in large part to a large, core group, of Game-veterans, that have brought their skill and knowledge to the community.
