M鈥機higeeng man charged in historical sexual assault
A 62-year-old M鈥機higeeng First Nation man has been charged by the 小蓝视频 Provincial Police (OPP) with multiple sexual assaults and drug offences, in connection to a historical sexual assault.
The Manitoulin detachment of the OPP began an investigation on June 18, after receiving information regarding a sexual assault that occurred in M鈥機higeeng between 2010 and 2025.
As a result of the investigation, the 62-year-old was arrested and has been charged with the following Criminal Code and Controlled Drugs and Substances Act offences: three counts of sexual assault with a weapon, sexual assault, communicate with anyone for purpose of obtaining sexual services, and three charges of trafficking in a schedule one substance including methamphetamine, cocaine and other drugs.
The name of the accused is being withheld to protect the identity of the victim.
The accused was released from custody and is scheduled to appear before the 小蓝视频 Court of Justice in Gore Bay at a later date.
None of the allegations have been tested in court and the accused is considered innocent until proven guilty.

Search warrant in M鈥機higeeng leads to drug seizure
A search warrant in M鈥機higeeng First Nation has led to five people being charged with drug offences and over 160 grams of cocaine being seized.
The UCCM Anishnaabe Police had received information of individuals trafficking controlled substances in the community of M鈥機higeeng. A search warrant was obtained for the residence of 40 Johnny鈥檚 Park Drive, M鈥機higeeng First Nation.
The search revealed the following: 163 grams of cocaine, 18 grams of crack, 66 grams of fentanyl, totaling an estimated street value of $45,234.
UCCM Anishnaabe Police Service Crime Unit, canine unit, and front-line officers alongside the 小蓝视频 Provincial Police (OPP) TRU, ERT, community street crime unit, and front-line officers executed the warrant and arrested five individuals inside the residence without incident.
Tasin Rahman (26) of North York, Anawahs Migwans (23) of M鈥機higeeng, Abigail Taibossigai (28) of Little Current, Skii Beboning (30) of M鈥機higeeng, and Bailey Laford (20) of Sudbury, are all facing charges.
All five above mentioned parties have been charged with possession of schedule one substances, cocaine, and fentanyl, for the purpose of trafficking 5(2) Controlled Drugs and Substances Act (CDSA).
Tasin Rahman faces an additional charge of possession of property obtained by crime 354(1)(a) Criminal Code of Canada (CCC), Anawahs Migwans faces the additional charge of failure to comply with release order 145(5)(a) CCC, Bailey Laford faces the additional charge of fail to comply with probation order 733.1(1) CCC.

Manitoulin OPP seeking information regarding stolen utility trailer
The Manitoulin detachment of OPP is seeking information regarding a stolen utility vehicle in the Evansville area.
On Monday, June 23, the Manitoulin OPP received a report of a utility trailer that was stolen off the shoulder of Highway 540 in Evansville.

Traffic complaint for passing dangerously results in impaired arrest
One person is facing charges after police received a traffic complaint.
On Friday, June 6, at approximately 4 pm, the Manitoulin OPP received a traffic complaint reporting a vehicle passing dangerously on Highway 6 near the Town of Espanola. Police located the vehicle in the area and conducted a traffic stop. Further investigation resulted in the driver being arrested for impaired operation.
Additionally, police seized an amount of suspected crack cocaine with an estimated street value of $5,800, an amount of suspected cocaine with an estimated street value of $3,000, and approximately $3,000 in Canadian currency.
The driver, Dorothy Vallillee, 42, from Sudbury, was charged with operation while impaired, dangerous operation, possession of a schedule one substance for the purpose of trafficking cocaine, possession of proceeds of property obtained by crime under $5,000.
The accused is scheduled to appear before the 小蓝视频 Court of Justice in Espanola on July 7.
